Pilates is a system of exercise which focuses on bringing postural balance back to the body.
Modern life places many physical stresses on the body that it wasn’t designed to cope with. One of the biggest, for most people, is not being active; particularly staying in one position for too long, be it at a desk, driving a car or sitting in front of the television! Over time, the body will start to take on the contours of any position we keep it in. This throws out the natural posture the body is meant to have. Pilates is suitable for everybody who wants to learn about their body and how to improve it. It is often recommended by physiotherapists and osteopaths for people with back and joint pain, where no obvious cause can be found.
Pilates is best taught one to one or in small groups.
